Among the countless hotels competing for attention in one of central Bangkok’s most popular areas, Phrom Phong, Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park has long been one of the city’s most recognisable names. Backed by the Marriott brand and occupying a prime location of a property beside Benchasiri Park, we decided to spend a night here to see what it is really like.

Why do we consider staying here?
Dear Readers,
For some context, the Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park hotel is situated in Sukhumvit 22 alley, which is also where the Emsphere shopping mall is connected to. This area is better known by the name of its nearest BTS Skytrain station, Phrom Phong, which is considered to be one of the more prestigious locations in Bangkok, often a destination of choice for both expats and locals alike.
Location & Accessibility
The area is home to the Em District, which is a combination of three premium large shopping malls, Emporium, Emquartier, and Emsphere, which we covered in a separate article on Bangkok Shopping malls for those who are interested in more details.
Outside of the shopping malls, you can expect to find countless cafes and restaurants, from Thai to international cuisines. The area is also a hub for Japanese that lives in Thailand, so you can also expect to find Japanese influences in the area, especially authentic Japanese cuisine; we have also covered this area in more detail in our explanation of the Sukhumvit to Siam areas.
Living up to its “Queen’s Park” name, the hotel is directly connected to Benchasiri Park. The park adds a welcome touch of greenery to the busy surroundings of Sukhumvit Road and provides a convenient spot for a morning walk or simply a relaxing break from Bangkok’s busy streets.
Shopping and Dining Nearby
Apart from the Em District, in Sukhumvit Soi 22, the side connected to the main Sukhumvit road, which you will likely walk past when you are staying at Marriott Queen’s Park, is lined up with massage parlors, a few bars and street food. Walking through the street, you can feel the more lively atmosphere in general, and the massage parlors will likely call on you for massages, most of which will be a real massage, but do expect some to possibly offer extra services. They are, however, not the type to pursue you into getting a massage with them, just calling out for potential customers. It can be a good quick stop for a simple foot, leg, head, and shoulder massage after a long day exploring Bangkok.
As for convenience, this is where the hotel excels, directly opposite the Hotel is the Lawson 108 convenience store, and a few meters next to that is a 7-11, to top that off, a few meters next to 7-11 is a larger wholesale store called Makro, and, of course, across Makro on the opposite side of the road is the entrance to Gourmet Market groceries store at Emsphere.
When it comes to food shopping, this place is hard to beat.
Walking Distance to BTS Phrom Phong
The hotel is easily accessible by BTS Skytrain, although not directly connected, it is only around a 5-12 minute walk away. The reason for such a big time difference is that there are two paths you can choose from: Benchasiri Park and Emsphere (Sukhumvit 22).
For the first option, you can walk through Benchasiri Park, which is directly below the station, and enter at the back of the Hotel, which takes only around 5 minutes. Do note that the entrance to the park closes at 10 PM.
Alternatively, if you want to stop by Emsphere on your way back, most of the walk can be done on the skywalk connecting from the station and through the Emsphere shopping mall, exiting from the far end of the gourmet market exit that leads you directly to soi 22, from there it is only a 2-minute walk to the hotel. The total duration for the walk is around 10-12 minutes.

The Room
We stayed at the 2 Double Beds, Guest Room, which is a standard room type at Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park.
Layout and Comfort
The room is what we would describe as standard luxury, nothing that stands out more than usual, but everything is of a higher quality. However, considering the age of the hotel, we would say that certain furniture, like the sofa chair, started to feel its age, but overall, things are in good shape and hygiene standards.
The View
Half of the view from our room is that of the opposite building of the hotel, and the other half is a lookout over a part of Benchasiri Park and the buildings surrounding it. Even though directly facing each other, the view does not feel cramped or restricted as the two buildings are designed with an angle while leaving a space in the middle, like being in a square, but with only two corners.
The Bathroom
The bathroom is clean and well-proportioned, although it may be on the smaller side, with little indication of the hotel’s age. This is particularly good, as bathrooms are often among the first areas where wear and tear become noticeable if not properly cleaned and maintained.
Sleep Quality
The bed offers a well-balanced level of comfort, being neither too firm nor too soft, while the pillows provide consistent support without feeling overly plush. Overall, it is the kind of bedding that should appeal to most guests, including older travellers who often prefer a mattress with a good balance of comfort and support.
Facilities and Restaurant
The normal pool and fitness facilities, as you would expect, while there may not be anything to specifically highlight, both of them meet the standard you would expect at a 5-star establishment.
The fitness is spacious, with lots of equipment. There is also a proper cleaning sheet provided for use, a drink bar with a wide variety of drink options, and even a trainer available for a private session upon booking.
Goji Kitchen
Apart from being the venue for breakfast, Goji Kitchen is one of the Hotel’s highlights; it is actually quite well-known among the Thai locals, who often come specifically to enjoy the food during lunch or dinner hours. They provide a wide variety of selections across many cuisines, and the food is often of a high standard compared to a regular buffet.
Who should stay at Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park?
In general, we would say that, as the experience and room held the standard for this level of hotel, it is one where you know what to expect, and a stay that will comfort your mind being in a foreign country if you are used to the services of Marriott.
You should not be expecting much of an experience in staying, as you may at some boutique hotels; we would describe it as more of a functional stay with higher quality rooms. What you can expect, however, is a location that is convenient in one of the most popular parts of Bangkok.
Therefore, the hotel is either for travellers who value location more than the experience, looking to explore the Phrom Phong area and places connected via the BTS Skytrain, business travellers, or other groups, including corporate holding conferences and tour groups that can be seen frequently visiting the place, especially during the morning and evening, with buses parked out front.
The Hotel Can Feel Busy
During certain times when there is a conference being held, which would also occupy the Goji Kitchen, usually during lunch hours. The same goes for when tour groups arrive at the property.
As for the guest areas, Marriott Marquis has over 1000 guest rooms in two buildings, making it one of the places with the largest accommodation space in the area, and you would likely not feel the busyness when you enter the guest quarters in the buildings.
We have seen the lift area going up to the rooms a little crowded at times, but in general, it is, for the most part, not a point of concern.
Additional things to note
While the park views and accessibility are a major highlight, it is worth noting that Benchasiri Park occasionally serves as a venue for public celebrations and special events. Guests staying during major Thai holidays may experience some additional noise, though it should generally not be significant.
Similarly, Emsphere hosts major concerts and events from time to time. If your visit coincides with one of these occasions, expect higher hotel occupancy in the area and heavier traffic jams around Sukhumvit Road.
Scoring (Our Verdict)
Review Summary: Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park
Style of review: Urban, City-Center
Do note that under this criterion, our evaluation will assume public transportation as the default form of transportation, depending on what the city has to offer. The criteria will also be set for a city’s convenience, which will mark the lack of a convenience store or nighttime activity as a minus (subject to the unique nature of each city).
Our scoring has also taken into account the price point: ~5,500 THB per night (standard room type)
* Prices are subject to change according to the season, the number of guests, room type, etc.
