As someone living in Bangkok, The Okura Prestige is one of the hotels we choose to go back to for a staycation. The Service, the atmosphere, and the location are what draw us back to this place, even among the vast selection of hotels in the same range.
At Phloen Chit Station, you are surrounded by the highrises of Bangkok in one of the most developed areas in the city, as well as one of its most valuable lands. After multiple stays, here is what makes The Okura Prestige one of our top picks in Bangkok.

On Arrival and Hotel Impression
Dear Travellers,
Let us introduce you to our experience at Okura Prestige Bangkok.
This hotel is among our most visited, from staying a night on different occasions to coming for a meal at one of the restaurants, and even occasionally for an afternoon tea.
A little bit about the Hotel Building. This hotel is located on the 24th floor of the Park Ventures building, which is also an office building. The lift area and entrance are separate, so there is no overlap between the two, but there is a connection point on the ground floor that provides easy access to the parking lot, the 7-11 convenience store, and a connecting bridge to the overhead skywalk platform that leads directly to BTS Phloen Chit.
Just a two-minute walk along the elevated skywalk brings you to Central Embassy, a premium shopping destination. The mall is also directly connected to Central Chidlom, another shopping mall under the same management. For more, visit our Bangkok department store pick.
BTS Phloen Chit Station provides convenient access to the Sukhumvit Line, placing many of Bangkok’s most popular areas within short reach. Just a few stops away are stations such as Siam and Phrom Phong. For more, visit our guide for the Sukhumvit city center areas.
The Room
This time we are staying at one of the Corner rooms, which is available for booking at a slightly higher price. The room offers different views and more windows and a slightly altered layout, but otherwise remains largely the same as the standard room category.
Layout
Inside the room is quite spacious, with a working table and a resting area at the end of the room beside the big window. There is a Japanese tea set for you to brew your own tea, which is a nice touch.
The sofa is a little uncomfortable because the backrest is a strait 90 degree angle, and there is not much cushion inside, only one pillow is offered for some support.
A Japanese-style yukata is available in the room for you to wear, which is quite comfortable as pajamas. Normally, in Japan, we would see people wearing that to dinner and breakfast within the hotel, but from our experience, we don’t find anyone doing that in Bangkok.
Sleep Quality and Comfort
We were able to get a good sleep quality out of the bed and pillows at the Okura, which is one that is neither too soft nor too hard. With a good amount of windows in the corner room, waking up to the gentle morning light also feels fresher and more natural, like you woke up normally as the sun rises rather than prying your eyes open, struggling to see properly after switching on the light.
With that said, for those who prefer complete darkness during their sleep, a corner room may not be for you, as there will naturally be more light coming in even with all the blinds closed.
Bathroom
The hotel offers a completely separate bathing and toilet area in the room, as expected from a Japanese-style architecture. We do prefer this kind of separation as it prevents the toilet area floor from being wet after a shower, and also allows the guests to use both facilities at the same time.
The toilet is also a Japanese-style toilet with modern functions. What we like most is the heated seat; sitting down on a cold toilet bowl is never a pleasant sensation.
The soap here is from Harnn, a premium Thai soap and wellness products brand founded in 1999; it is also quite a popular souvenir for many tourists. We personally find this brand’s aroma matches our liking, and the quality feels nice. The use of local brand amenities is also an aspect we respect and feel that it adds to the sense of being somewhere rather than a completely generic hotel experience.
Enjoy a bath with natural light, which feels refreshing, especially in the morning. The view from the bathing area, however, directly faces the office building on the opposite side, which gives a slightly more daring bathing experience, one where you constantly wonder if the window is tinted enough from outside.
The View
Our room this time offers a city view of Bangkok, notably the opposite Central Embassy shopping mall building, pointing towards the Petchaburi Road, which is less densely packed with buildings.
Depending on the direction each room is pointed toward, on different stays, we have had our rooms facing Wireless Road, which points towards the city center and more green spaces, which we prefer. Also, a corner room with a better view that pointed towards the part of Bangkok where all the highrises are.
Regardless of the rooms, the view is not too crowded, meaning it is not fully occupied by another building.
The Breakfast
There are two options for the breakfast venue you can choose from. If the breakfast were to be described in a word, we would say that word is “Quaility,” for both restaurants.
Buffet/International Breakfast
In the restaurant Up & Above, which is to the right of the main lobby counter on the 24th floor, the food is an international buffet selection. Most of the food is offered with freshness and of higher quality than your standard buffet, nothing too fancy, but it is something you will be content with waking up to.
Japanese Breakfast at Yamazato
The Japanese restaurant opposite Up & Above, Yamazato, is one of our favourites, a more refined Japanese meal in Bangkok. With this option, you are allowed to choose from a set menu of Japanese-style breakfast. A cleaner option to start the day and an authentic tasting food.
The Club Lounge
An option that comes at an additional charge unless you booked one of the Premier Club of Presidential Suite rooms. The Club Lounge section offers afternoon tea and evening cocktails for those who want to enjoy their time leisurely in and around the hotel.
Things to consider
Higher Budget area, one of the most expensive places in Bangkok, as we mentioned in the opening, the Wireless Road beside the hotel is one of the most expensive neighborhoods around. If you are looking for street food or a more casual cafe around the city with more budget options while still being in a more premium neighborhood, this location may not be for you; if you are looking to match that criteria, we would recommend the Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park in Phrom Phong as a better stay location-wise.
Booking Guide
Before you make a booking through a third-party site, check the Okura Prestige Bangkok Official website first. Surprisingly, we found that the room rate on their website can be quite a bit cheaper; this applies to the extra room and breakfast package as well. Generally, from our experience, by booking directly at the hotel, you will also enjoy the extra benefit of collecting membership points (One Harmony) and may get a room on a higher floor.
We do recommend going with a breakfast-included deal, as the breakfast here at both Yamazato and the international buffet section is of high quality.
Our Score & Summary
Review Summary: Okura Prestige Bangkok (One Harmony)
Style of review: Urban, City-Center
Do note that under this criterion, our evaluation will assume public transportation as the default form of transportation, depending on what the city has to offer. The criteria will also be set for a city’s convenience, which will mark the lack of a convenience store or nighttime activity as a minus (subject to the unique nature of each city).
Our scoring has also taken into account the price point: ~6000 THB per night (standard room type lower season, with breakfast included)
* Prices are subject to change according to the season, the number of guests, room type, etc.
Our recommendation: Preferred
An accommodation we prefer to stay at in the area, there are other options at higher or lower price ranges, but in the same category, we would highly recommend this hotel.
*Hand-Picked → 1, Preferred Choice → 2, Selective Choice → 3, Subjective Choice → 4
The hotels that fall into these ratings are all satisfactory experiences; the categories capture how exceedingly it went over our satisfaction level, and are not a ranking that implies which hotel is good or bad. The rating is highly reliant on our preferences and personal experience.
