Stay Introduction
Dear Readers,
On certain occasions, you may find yourself in a situation where staying over at an airport is the best course of action for you, and that is exactly the circumstance where we found ourselves in recently, which led to our stay at the Hyatt Regency Suvarnabhumi Airport.
Whether it be a layover flight, a long-distance flight, a late-night flight, an early flight, a consecutive flight, or any other reason, an airport hotel is often the best choice.
For one of the busiest airports in Asia and the most visited city in the world by international travellers, Suvarnabhumi Airport only has one hotel that is physically connected to the airport, and that is the Hyatt Regency Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport.
Although there are countless hotels in the vicinity of the airport, the Hyatt is still the most convenient option for many travellers. There are a few capsule-style hotels on the underground level of the airport, but that may not be an option many are considering as an alternative.
Originally, the hotel was managed by Novotel, under Accor Group, before changing hands to Hyatt in 2025, after almost 20 years. There were no big renovations or a halt in operation during this time, meaning the big change only occurred in the management team and services, while the physical hotel building and guest rooms largely stayed the same.
We will take you through our experience at the hotel after landing in Bangkok from an international flight.
If you just landed in Bangkok, here is a recommendation of shopping malls you may want to visit.
The Experience
Getting there from the airport
From the arrival terminal, we were able to quite easily find our way to the hotel by following the signs labelled “Airport Hotel.” It led us to the underground level, which is also where the Airport Rail Link is.
Passing through that, following the signs, we walked further to the end, passing a few capsule hotels along the way, and into an empty corridor, one that was lit but not very well lit, which felt quite eerie to walk through at midnight. From there, we made our way up an old escalator, which led us to the hotel’s back entrance.
Another way to get to the hotel:
The hotel’s bus is available at exit number 4 of the arrival terminal, with the bus on standby every 10 minutes, 24 hours a day. If not, you can contact the hotel directly to arrange one.
If you do not have any problem with walking or are not carrying a lot of luggage, we would recommend walking as the fastest option, as it is not that far.

At The Front Desk
The check-in process was fast and seamless at the counter, which is open 24 hours.
The Hyatt Regency Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport is a 24-hour hotel, meaning that you are able to stay in the hotel for 24 hours from check-in time. Therefore, our check-out time was midnight the day after, which is perfect for an airport hotel.
Note: if you check in later after midnight (1 am onwards), given that your hotel booking is now from the day before, you will only be able to stay until the end of that day, which is midnight, regardless of your 24-hour duration.
Room service at the Hyatt Regency is also 24-hour, as well as the restaurant at the lobby, and there is a 7-11 convenience store 3 minutes’ walk away from the hotel.
For those who are exploring around, 7-11 included, here are some things useful to know in Bangkok.
The Service
A five-star hotel level of service
Even at midnight, the staff called in a bellhop to help us with our luggage delivery to our room, seeing that the carpet was thick and might be hard to drag the luggage along. The receptionist also asked for our consent before putting us in a room further away, as there was construction going on in the lobby.
Apparently, an old decoration was too ‘spiky’ for it to be a good environment for business prosperity.
A hotel staff member was also stationed at the elevator, making sure one is readily available as you approach.
Service time was fast; a hotel staff member came to our room within 5 minutes of our call about an inconvenience.
Room Service
When it comes to a stay before or after a long flight, ordering room service becomes one of the most luxurious things in the moment.
The room service at Hyatt Regency Suvarnbhumi was very professional and polite during the delivery of our food. The price for a room service meal is also very reasonable for most items, and the food was decent. They offer both a selection of Thai and international cuisine. We can recommend ordering room service.

The Room
This is where the hotel falls short compared to its competitors a little.
As we expected, the room was old, and the design was outdated. Even though it was kept clean, you can feel the age of every piece of furniture and the surfaces you touch or interact with.
The bathroom was clean and well-maintained; however, there were small details around the corners and drains that cleaning staff missed. It is minor and not in the places you would touch, but seeing it alone makes the perception of cleanliness lower.
The bedding was spotless, with clean sheets and a very comfortable bed, but the blanket, when light shone through, showed signs of usage, which was a little unpleasant to notice.
Modern additions like a big flat screen TV and central lighting control beside the bed were appreciated; the over lighting in the room, however, was lacking. To elaborate, it is a type of room that, when you open the curtain and let the natural light in during the day, looks a lot better than if you rely on the lighting in the room alone.
With that said, our stay was a comfortable one.
The Closing: Our Score
Hyatt Regency Bangkok Suvarnabhumi is still a comfortable stay for an airport hotel. One can feel the age of a two-decade-old establishment regardless of how well it is cleaned. Above all, the service and hospitality are outstanding and are doing the heavy lifting to compensate for the old hotel interior.

Review Summary
Style of review: Utilitarian lodging, Transit Stay (Airport Hotel)
Under this criterion, our evaluation will assume convenience as one of the top priorities, depending on the purpose of the stay. The criteria will also be set for a utilitarian perspective, which will mark the lack of a convenience store or difficulty in transportation as a minus (subject to the unique nature of each city).
Our scoring has also taken into account the price point: 3800 Baht per night (standard room rate)
Our recommendation: *A Subjective Choice
A comfortable and convenient stay, but it may be highly subjective due to the age of the hotel. Exploring other options at a similar or lower price range is recommended.
*Hand-Picked → 1, Preferred Choice → 2, Selective Choice → 3, Subjective Choice → 4
The hotels that fall into these ratings are all satisfactory experiences; the categories capture how exceedingly it went over our satisfaction level, and are not a ranking that implies which hotel is good or bad. The rating is highly reliant on our preferences and personal experience.
